Making Time For You!
During this time our minds are consumed with worry about the CoronaVirus, about our jobs, our families, our friends, and our health. We are learning new things about this virus daily. Taking your hygiene seriously is even more important than ever. The new normal is washing your hands frequently, making sure to shower after shopping and cleaning surfaces daily, staying distant from other people, no more dining out, or social events.
Certainly your daily routine has drastically changed, you might find yourself feeling lost and uncertain. I encourage you to make a daily list of chores or things that you have been putting off to do, and everyday completing these tasks. As a result, it will make you feel like you accomplished something.
Listening to the news constantly will make you tense, so allow yourself time to relax. Shut off the television, log off the internet, listen to music, dance or go for a walk. You know that family member/friend that you always say lets catch up? This is the time to reach out to all of them. Facetime, Zoom or just picking up the phone to chat will make you feel more connected In this socially distant time. When this is all over, new habits that you develop during this time will continue on.
Above all try to focus on creating new habits that make you happy and healthy in all aspects of life such as your relationships, your work ethic, your physical and mental health. Many of my personal training clients feel lost without their daily routine of going to the gym and exercising. Exercise is more than just lifting weights. Exercise can be a social activity, and a stress reliever.
If you normally workout first thing in the morning, keep that up! There are plenty of exercises to do that do not require a gym. You can use water jugs as weights, books to step on instead of stairs. Take up jogging, running, bike riding!
Stay calm, focused, and motivated. You got this!
